Grilled Dory Fillet

One of our favorite fish. It's very soft and juicy. Just pust salt, pepper, sliced garlic and garnish it cilantro before serving.

Salad with Alamang Sauce

I bought stuff without thinking how to cook them, so here I am making salad out of nowhere.

I paired the salad with Grilled Dory Fillet

Steam Crab

Since we came back to Manila we keep going back to Farmer's Market in Cubao. Today we had steam crab for lunch.

Chilly con carne dip

Our home made Guacamole was not enough. We had to make this meaty and cheesy dip too.

Guacamole Dip

We ran out of bottled Guacamole dip. I have no choice but to make one.

Pinakbet

After too much eating during the holidays I needed to go on diet. I find pinakbet to be helpful. You can add variety of vegetable. I love going for basic ingredients like  bitter gourd, eggplant, sigarilyas, french beans, sweet potato or pumpkin and okra. I learned from a friend to add knorr to make it tastier. Start with browning the meat, add tomato and sliced ginger then put all the veggies. Do not stir, just flip it like how Chinese chef does to keep the vegetables in shape.

Grilled Chicken

My friend from Tashkent Uzbekistan visited us and gave this precious souvenir, mixed herb and spices. My grilled chicken always taste and smell good, makes our dinner irresistable.

Tuna with Uzbek Spices

I'm running out of idea on what to cook for dinner. I have tuna steak in the fridge but I have no idea on how should I cook it. I saw this Uzbek herb and spices from my friend. Suppose to be it's for meat, but today I use it to marinate this fish with salt, pepper and added cilantro leaves as garnish, it was fantastic!

Chawanmushi

My girls love this Japanese savoury dish. For tonight my mother in law made it for them. It went really fast after it touched the table.

Pandesal

One of my favorite during my childhood days is Pandesal. I love my pandesal with fried egg filling, mayonnaise and banana ketchup. By the way banana ketchup is widely available in Philippines. I prefer banana ketchup than tomato. At times I also wanted Tender Juicy hotdog in it.

Pandesal. Recipe from Panlasang Pinoy.

Pandesal Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 5 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cup fresh milk, warm
  • 1 pouch rapid rise yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 piece raw egg
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Procedure

  1. Combine the yeast, sugar, and warm milk and stir until the yeast and sugar are fully disolved
  2. In the mixing bowl, combine the dry ingrdients starting with the flour then the sugar, salt, and baking powder . Mix well by stirring
  3. Add the egg, butter, cooking oil, and yeast-sugar-milk mixture in the mixing bowl with the dry ingredients then mix again until a dough is formed. Use your clean hands to effectively mix the ingredients.
  4. In a flat surface, knead the dough until the texture becomes fine.
  5. Mold the dough until shape becomes round then put back in the mixing bowl. Cover the mixing bowl with damp cloth and let the dough rise for at least 1 hour
  6. Put the dough back to the flat surface and divide into 4 equal parts using a dough slicer
  7. Roll each part until it forms a cylindrical shape
  8. Slice the cylindrical dough diagonally (These slices will be the individual pieces of the pandesal)
  9. Roll the sliced dough over the breadcrumbs and place in a baking tray with wax paper (makes sure to provide gaps between doughs as this will rise later on)
  10. Leave the sliced dough with breadcrumbs in the tray for another 10 to 15 minutes to rise
  11. Pre heat the oven at 375 degrees fahrenheit for 10 minutes
  12. Put the tray with dough in the oven and bake for 15 minutes
  13. Turn off the oven and remove the freshly baked pandesal.
  14. Serve hot. Share and enjoy!
